I have to start with giving kudos to all the creative people in SL. There are just so many beautiful regions/sims to visit, not to mention scary and dark ones. I do believe that no matter what kind of theme you are looking for, it is out there and most of them are free to visit.
People tend to hang out in the clubs all the time, and clubbing is definitly fun too, but it saddens my heart to see all these creative spots being empty most of the time.
We love to explore, and sometimes we find places that are outdated or not so much fun. Most of the time we get to experience peoples creative minds and see how much SL actually has to offer. These creators have often put a lot of time and Lindens into making fantastic scenarios. So pack a backpack or dress up for adventures, I promise you, you wont be disappointed.
One good place to start is The Destination Guide, you can filter the catagories or look at fx. Editor's picks, Recently Added... make sure you set your search to the maturity rating you want, and a world of adventures will pop up.
Let's go out there and support these lovely creative souls, as mentioned most of them are free, but we do like to hit the donations/tip jars if they are rezzed out. and we hope you will too.

Amazing spots everywhere, tiny little teleports, crooked little doors and dark holes (they will take you to another beautiful and crazy place) are hidden all over.
You start in a little cottage, and enter a portal that will lead you into a colourful room, find the potion and drink it, your avatar will shrink, giving you access to a tiny door. Walk through the door and enter Alices mad but beautiful world.
